January 04, 2024Why do we need a varifocal photograph from you? This photograph allows us to take precise measurements of both your PD (Pupillary Distance) and height. PD is the distance between the centres of your pupils and plays a crucial role in the process of ordering varifocals (progressive lenses). Ensuring that the optical centre of the lens aligns precisely with your PD results in the best possible vision correction. In addition to obtaining your PD, we also consider your height measurements from the picture, as they are equally crucial in ensuring that your varifocals are tailored specifically to you. Knowing your precise measurements for the progressive lens is essential for optimal performance and visual comfort. How to Take the perfect varifocal photograph To obtain an accurate PD and height measurement for glazing your glasses, follow these steps when taking the photograph: Ask someone to assist you by taking a picture while wearing a pair of glasses you already own. It is used to measure how much a lens material bends light, and can affect the thickness and weight of the lens. When choosing your glasses, it is important to understand the different lens index options available, as they can greatly impact the appearance, comfort, and performance of your glasses, so here is a brief rundown of the different lens index options you can choose from. December 07, 2022Why You Need Prescription Ski Masks. We all know the challenges and perils of skiing, and these are made worse for glasses-wearers trying to ski without proper prescription ski masks. Safety & Protection: Skiing in regular glasses is not a good idea when travelling down a mountain at 40+ mph. The lenses can fog up which minimises visibility and could result in you falling over or having a collision with another skier or even a tree! Furthermore, you also run the risk of your glasses breaking or falling off and losing them in the snow forever. Ultimately, prescription ski masks make for a safer and far more enjoyable skiing experience. Skiing goggles protect your eyes from wind, snow and hail and can help prevent snow blindness. Snow can reflect up to 85% of the sun’s UV rays which can result in the cornea of the eye becoming sunburnt, resulting in a temporary loss of vision. The added safety features of prescription ski masks accompanied by superior comfort, secure fitting, and anti-fog

November 16, 2022Varifocal lenses are an innovation that serves as a superior option to bifocals. These lenses are often needed as we get older and struggle to see things close up. This means we require lenses with multiple focal points. Varifocal glasses contain combination lenses that provide clarity and clearer vision for all distances. There is no visible line with varifocals and they offer a smoother transition than bifocals. Choosing the Right Frame Before choosing your lenses, it is important to choose the right frame. There are extra considerations to be taken into account when buying a frame for varifocal lenses. For varifocals, your glasses frame must have a depth of at least 27mm. It is also important to consider the strength of your prescription when choosing your frames. Stronger prescriptions require thicker lenses which may not be suitable for thinner frames. You can browse our Varifocal Glasses section on our website, for suitable frames. RX 5228 Ray-Ban Glasses Types Of Varifocal Lenses

November 15, 2022The eyes are a very complex organ, and the quality of your vision depends on the quality of the connection between your eyes and brain. There are many different parts of your eyes that have to work together in order for you to see. If the quality of the connection is compromised, it will cause problems with your vision. Read on to learn more about the process your eyes go through in order to work properly. Light Passes Through Your Eyes Light enters through the front layer of your eye, called the cornea. The cornea bends the light before it passes through to the pupil, to bring the object you're looking at into focus. The pupil is in the center of the iris (the coloured part of your eye). It automatically increases or decreases in size depending on the intensity of light. The light then passes through the pupil to the lens behind it. The lens adjusts its shape to bend the light a second time. This is so that when it enters the retina at the back of the eye it is focused correctly. Connection

November 09, 2022The clocks have gone back and the days are shorter, forcing us to spend more time driving in the dark. Our vision is compromised in darkness, making nighttime the most dangerous time to be on the road. To help you stay safe, we’ve put together a useful guide for identifying the challenges of night driving and the precautions you can take to improve your night driving experience. The Main Challenges of Driving at Night Reduced Visibility - One of the main reasons that night driving is so hazardous is that darkness limits visibility to around 250 feet. This creates a slower reaction time and makes it harder to judge the speed and proximity of other vehicles. Headlight Glare - The headlights of oncoming vehicles can dazzle us and cause blurred vision and momentary blindness. Some Drivers will inadvertently slow down when another vehicle is coming toward them causing issues for drivers behind them. Animals & Pedestrians - Nocturnal animals such as foxes and badgers or pedestrians wearing dark
